Assessing the process of managing service providers

The key to successfully outsourcing any supply chain function will ultimately revolve around the process of managing the ongoing relationship with your service providers.

Service provider management is most effective when the following criteria are met:

bulletService level expectations, cost schedules and KPIs are clearly defined and acceptable to both parties
bulletThe reporting format, the methodology and review schedule are predefined
bulletBoth parties are committed to the process and understand the benefits that it will bring

Using a simple but effective diagnostic tool Leydin Consulting Group can review your process of management to determine the extent to which the above criteria are being met by your organisation.

We will identify opportunities for improvement and provide practical recommendations and supply proven tools and templates that will allow you to achieve a best practice supply chain service provider management process.

This is a fixed fee service with a agreed completion date that is guaranteed.

Defining and implementing or validating existing key performance indicators

A key component of the process of management is ensuring that there are relevant key performance indicators (KPI) in place.

For those organisations that have existing KPIs it is more than likely that they are volume or value based - i.e. how many transactions, what was the total cost.

The above types of KPI's are useful but the real picture becomes much clearer when you include process performance measures and the volume and value based measures are also represented as ratios - i.e. as a % of something

Leydin Consulting Group can help you to define and implement a set of relevant key performance indicators that can be used to effectively monitor and manage your supply chain.

Alternatively we can assess the existing measures that are already in place and and provide feedback as to their effectiveness.

Benchmarking service provider performance and cost

If it aint broken why fix it?

Seeking continuous improvement is the key to being better than the competition.

Comparing your existing service providers performance and costs against industry standards will help to identify opportunities for improvement and ultimately lead to a more efficient and cost effective supply chain.

Leydin Consulting Group can provide an independent view point that is supported by relevant industry data to enable you to identify and implement process improvement initiatives.

Uncovering lower costs or better service levels is not necessarily a catalyst for changing service providers. In any cases it is simply the platform required to initiate a program of improvement projects with your existing partners.

Providing training and skills development for key personnel involved in the management of 3PL service providers

The skills required to manage service provider relationships are very different to those required to manage the day to day supply chain operations. An outstanding distribution centre manager wont always be the most suitable person to manage an outsourced distribution centre.

Fortunately these skills and the process of management can be learnt.

Leydin Consulting Group has previous experience in delivering training workshops and providing mentoring for those involved in the process of managing service provider relationships.

Customer Satisfaction Surveys

The customers perception of how well you deliver your service is the ultimate gauge of your performance.

Meeting service level and cost expectations can be measured but Perception is Reality.

Our supply chain specific customer service methodology looks beyond what can be measured and focuses on what your customers really think.

This is transaction based service with fees charged based on the number of customers that are surveyed.

Pre Payment Supply Chain Cost Audits

This is a transaction based service that is offered due to the fact that up to 10% of invoices issued by service providers are WRONG.

In simple terms we will review your supply chain and associated invoices prior to payment to ensure that what has been charged is as per the agreed schedule of rates.

Once checked we will confirm that the invoice is ready for payment or we will request that a credit or an adjustment note is issued from your service provider.
